HOLA!
As it is the Easter holidays (finally) myself and one of my oldest best friends went to the cinema to see Divergent and well... IT IS SIMPLY FANTASTIC. I had been told 'It's like the Hunger Games' which instantly made me want to see it because you all know how much I love the Hunger Games and it did not fail my expectations.
I wouldn't say it's exactly like the Hunger Games but it's an action-romance. Apart from that it is very different. I loved it because I understood the film straight away, I have never read the book so I didn't know what it was about at all, but the storyline was very clear straight away.
It's about a town where the people are split into five sections: Amity (peaceful), Candor (truthful), Erudite (intelligent), Abnegation (selfless) and finally Dauntless (brave). When the children reach 16 they take a test to see which 'faction' they fit into and then they choose which one they want to be in. Then they live the rest of their life in that faction, seems simple enough. However Beatrice/Tris (played by Shailene Woodley) is divergent. This means she doesn't fit into any faction and that the government can't control them because they have independent thoughts. So this is seen as a threat and the government want to get rid of them. So which faction does Beatrice choose? Do they know she is a divergent? Does she survive? (I don't want to give anything away that's why I am being very vague.)
However what I will say is that Beatrice falls in love with 'Four/Tobias' who is played by Theo James and he is GORGEOUS. As soon as he came on the screen my friend and I looked at each other and we gave each other 'the look' (girls you know what I mean). Triss is played by Shailene Woodley (who is playing Hazel in TFIOS eep!) and she is such a talented actress. I think they both did they role justice and they couldn't have picked better actors for the roles.
After watching the film it makes me want to be a better person. It has taught me to take risks and never ever back down if I fail. 'In order to be brave I have to be selfless but in order to be selfless I have to be brave'.
I am definitely going to read the books now and I couldn't recommend the film enough! Please please please pleaseeeeee watch it, it is definitely worth it.
Thankyou for reading
Lots of Love
